LASCOMED Unit Representatives/Executives Meeting Brief held at Alimosho, on Tuesday 11th January 2019

Meeting was called to order at 12:noon by the President Mr. Dina J. O., with praise and worship songs led by Mrs. Ajayi(Alimosho) while the opening prayer was said by Mrs. Olanegan(Somolu).

WELCOME ADDRESS:

The President welcomed all to the first meeting of the year, he prayed and appreciated all for a job welldone during the past year.

He introduced the Medical Director of Alimosho General Hospital Dr. Adebajo  M. A, who welcomed all to his unit and was amazed with the cooperative slogan, He said cooperative is a life saver and gave kudos to the executives, he regretted not joining the society earlier, since 1998 that he had joined the service, based on what he heard about some cooperative societies. and ever since he had joined he had no cause for regrets and  that cooperative is better than banks in all ways.

He concluded by saying that he was very happy that there is no rift in the society and wished everyone a fruitful deliberation.

 MOTION FOR ADOPTION OF MINUTES:

 Motion was moved for adoption by Mr. Amuda L.  A.( Isolo) and seconded by Mr. Okeowo O. O. (Ikorodu).

 MATTERS ARISING :

1.0    LOAN:

The president informed the house that November remittance had not been paid, its only the government that can give reasons behind their actions, despite our meeting with the Accountant General and Head of Service. The president suggested to everyone to go on their kneels and pray.

Comments:/Response/suggestions:

  • Mrs. Kareem(Ajeromi) said we should look for those who knows the Governors so as to have a meeting with him and explained our challenges.
  • Dr. Olaitan(Alimosho) asked if a letter had been written officially or rather we should go to the Governor through the Oba of Lagos and his friends.

Response:

  • The President asked if anyone knows people that are close to him, they should let the executives know so that they can contact him, because on the executives part we have done what we ought to do.
  • Dr. Adegbola(Alimosho) said regarding seeing the Governor, we can also go through the Medical Director of Alimosho.

2.0      LAND:

Badagry:

The lawyer said the Minister promised to sign all the papers before he leaves the office.

Laiye-Ode:

  • The president adviced members to be a house owner, most especially those that still have longer years in service should buy from the estate.

Erunwen:

  • The president said about 80% of allottees  are women, which is the reason responsible for the under development experienced at the estates. He adviced that if anyone wants to sell, they should sell to members of LASCOMED and not sell to non-members which is what the allotees do.

Comments/Response:

  • Mrs. Abdulkareem (Ajeromi) said the awareness for the sale of  Laiyeode estate is not enough.

Response:

The President responded that she should get the fliers and give to her members.

3.0       ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING:

  • what is paramount to the society now is payments of loan to members.
  • The society’s annual account was approved in November,and the Ministry said we cannot have two Annual General Meeting in one year, but before the end of year 2019 there will be  AGM and election.

4.0       DIVIDEND:

  • The president told the house that there is no funds presently due to the  November and December remmittance that is yet to be paid and even at that, granting of loan is still on-going, he implored that members should bear with LASCOMED for the mean time, very soon the dividend will be paid.

5.0          COMMODITY:

Non-remittance also cause the delay in purchase of commodities but with the help of God, we were able to meet up.

                Comments:

  • Mrs. Sobiye (Ifako-Ijiaye) asked for 2017 & 2018dividend and purchase of  electronics.
  • Mrs. Olayiwola(LASAEC) asked for souvenirs.
  • Mrs. Adewunmi (Alimosho) asked for E-services and prices of commodities.

Response:

  • E-Service will commence on or before June.
    • Price list: Mr. Aina A. O. said during the course of collecting commodities at the secretariat , unit representatives were given the prices of all commodities.

6.0       ID CARD:

  • Some are ready for collection.

7.0       GENERAL:

  • Mr. Abdul(Gbagada) reported that staff do not pick  their calls and want three months waiting period to be reviewed as Oshodi-Isolo had want to take over cooperative in his unit.
  • Mrs. Kolawole (Alimosho) asked for the benefits that the retirees receives from LASCOMED.  In addition, said that the unit representative usually recorded more than what is collected and she will like to know when Laiyode Estate will be sold and what the level of Badagry land is.
  • Mr. Amuda(Isolo) asked for the kind of business LASCOMED is doing at the moment.
  • Mrs. Olayiwola (LASAEC) asked if she can advice her member to check their account from time to time.
  • Mrs. Olatunji(Alimosho) said it seems Eruwenallottees are not interested in the land anymore because her neighbours land is filled with bushes .(Blk 53 plot 1)

Response;

  • Laiye-ode estate: the papers are not ready, but the estates is up for sale already, anyone interested should contact the secretariat.
  • Business: LASCOMED is considering partnership with other hospitals which is on-going but there is no finance.
  • Retirees: party is organised for them with a gift to appreciate them, even though the Government is not giving them anything.
  • Commodities: nobody  add to commodity of members, they should confirm from their unit representatives.
  • Badagry: when the title paper is out, we shall know what to do, but no Land allocation.
  • On checking of passbooks the president said it is allowed because it will encourage them to save more.
  • Erunwen: the president implored  Mrs. Olatunji to help to locate the person beside her since most of them have retired.and list of allotees will be made available.
  • On calls, members should call the office land line-08187484394 and not staff personal line.
  • waiting period of 3 months; due to LASCOMED membership strength and we have higher loan portfolio. Oshodi Isolo Cooperative is  on both Local and State Government deductions, Active and Non –Active.
  • Mrs. Olanegan also adviced that we should look for ways to attract new members and retaining them. and waiting for one year before taking loan should be reviewed.

Response:

  • Mrs. Olubajo told the house that if loans were given before one year of membership, so many people will go with the society’s money,
  • Mrs. Abdulkareem(Ajeromi) said members can relate with their unit representatives to call the secretariat on their behalf .
  • Mrs. Folarin(Alimosho) suggested that we mobilised ourselves and meet the Governor.

RECONGNITION OF MEMBERS: about 30Members of Alimosho General Hospital were dully  recognized and Mr. Ojo(Apapa) appreciated all members of Alimosho for a successful hosting.

NEXT MEETING: The next meeting was scheduled to hold at Ajeromi General Hospital on Thursday 14th March 2019 at 10.00 am, on special request for change of date.

MOTION FOR ADJOURNMENT: Motion for adjournment was moved by Mrs. Olanegan (Somolu) and seconded by Mrs. Vincent Abisola (HSC).

CLOSING: Meeting came to a close at 2:10 pm with closing prayer said by Mrs. Abdulkareem (Ajeromi).
